  • Q: Who selects the scholarship winners?

    A: Lindbergh Schools Foundation employees are not involved in the selection process. Scholarships are awarded solely by donor committees or, in limited cases, by a volunteer committee of the Foundation Board.

     

    Q: Why didn’t my student receive a scholarship?

    A: Scholarships are highly competitive. In addition, each scholarship donor has different selection criteria, and some scholarships have highly specific eligibility requirements.

     

    This year:

    • 185 students applied.
    • 85 students received scholarships.
    • 118 scholarships were awarded.
    • 43% of applicants received at least one scholarship.

     

    Q: Can I find out why my student wasn’t selected?

    A: No. Applications are anonymous during the selection process, and donor committees without input from or consultation with Lindbergh Schools Foundation employees.

     

    Q: How can my student increase their chances of receiving a scholarship?

    A: The Lindbergh Schools Foundation facilitates more than 85 scholarships for students of all interests, backgrounds and abilities. We encourage all students to:

    • Review criteria and apply for all eligible scholarships
    • Attend help sessions for assistance with applications
    • Ensure essays are compelling and well-written
    • Submit strong letters of recommendation (when required)

     

    Q: Do all scholarships use the same selection method?

    A: No. Some committees use rubrics, some conduct interviews, and some use consensus-based selection.

     

    Q: Can I appeal the decision?

    A: No. All scholarship selection committee decisions are final.
